Bluegrass Gospel Project
Founded in 2001 at the behest of First Night Burlington (VT), the BGP was formed to play at Burlington's reknowned Flynn Theater for a special, one-night concert. The band met with such appreciation from that audience -- and had such a good time together -- that we kept going. 14 years and six albums later, the band is still going strong and playing concerts throughout the Northeast.
Cold Chocolate is creating an exciting and unique new sound in the world of Americana: fusing bluegrass and roots with a dash of funk. With original tunes and technical prowess, this trio from Boston is rocking audiences with guitar upright bass, percussion, and three-part harmony.
Based in Boston, the band is composed of Dan Bui on mandolin, Ricky Mier on banjo, Kathleen Parks on fiddle and vocals, Chris Sartori on bass, and Rachel Sumner on guitar and vocals.
The band formed while studying at Berklee College of Music. After realizing the incredible chemistry they had together the band secured a monthly residency at The Cantab Lounge where they honed their chops, repertoire, and group sound. Quickly becoming immersed in the vibrant Boston bluegrass community, Twisted Pine has performed with bluegrass luminaries such as Peter Rowan, Gibson Brothers, and has been showcased as Berklee College of Music's premier acoustic act. Twisted Pine has performed on the main stages of major festivals such as Greyfox Bluegrass Festival, Celtic Connections in Glasgow, Green River Festival, FreshGrass Festival, Joe Val Bluegrass Festival, Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival, and more.
In 2014 they won both the FreshGrass and Thomas Point Beach band competitions. Recently, the band received a grant from the Iguana Music Fund at Club Passim to record their debut full length album at Compass Records Studio. They were nominated for the 2015 IBMA Band Performance Momentum Award and tied for first place in the RockyGrass band competition. They are now in artist development at Signature Sounds.
